I tried putting an "msleep(5)" on both sides of the usb_control_msg 
calls (wasn't sure which side you were referring to).  Other than being 
significantly slower, it didn't work any differently.  If anything it 
was worse.  There are more errors when running tvtime and when I 
unplugged the tuner, my entire system froze.

Is there anything else I can try?  I have a much older MSI USB Vox II (I 
believe).  Would I have any better luck with that?
