I still have problems tuning channels with mplayer with the latest .deb
for ubuntu 8.04 (2.6.24-19-generic kernel, 64bit). the device is a
pinnacle pctv hybrid pro (330e). mplayer very often fails to tune to the
channel when executing the command "mplayer dvb://Channelname"
(sometimes i have to execute this command at least a dozen times before
i can get a picture). A suggested workaround was to use "tzap -r
Channelname" to tune to the channel first, then start "mplayer
/dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0" and watch digital tv. this works every time,
however it is a little inconvenient.
Is there any solution to this problem?

I tried to avoid some delays there which are required to settle the
frequency since the scan command and kaffeine seem to handle it
without a requirement of such a delay already.
I'll check the minimal required delay for mplayer for tuning during
the next few days.
