Reproducible error reports would be helpful here. I have one case: Add this: (blink-cursor-mode )to a ~/.emacs. Then, start ./Emacs from a terminal: frame appears in background without a cursor (so far, so good).
Now click on frame to raise/select it. Cursor will appear. Then click in text to position point elsewhere. Cursor will be duplicated.
