Hi,This patch provides "M-x mac-hide-menu-bar" and "M-x mac-show-menu- bar" to the Mac (Carbon) port.
Generally menu-bars are toggled by menu-bar-mode on other platforms. However, since Mac OS has only one menu-bar in the screen, it is not good to toggle it by menu-bar-mode which is local to the frames. (Note that speedbar and ediff work with multiple frames and menu-bar- mode is turned off in sub-frames) We believe this feature should be provided as separate functions in the case of Mac OS X.
