FWIW, I get

  #+BEGIN_SRC C :includes '(<math.h> <stdio.h>) :flags -lm
  int i=9;
  printf("%d\n",(int)sqrt(i));
  #+END_SRC

  #+RESULTS:
  : 3

without any error.
