I recall trying inline src blocks once, a year or two ago. I couldn't get it to work, so I gave up. Of course I figured I was doing something "wrong" or whatever, so it's nice to see "it's not just me." :) So, 3x thanks! One for confirming the bug, and 2 more for actually providing a solution!
