The core of the issue is that the org version used to initiate the export must be the same than the org version run in the asynchronous export process, as bytecode from org is passed between them (and in my case this bytecode was mentioning a recently introduced org function that is not available in the org shipped with emacs). Making sure the async init file loaded the same org version than the one I use everyday solved the problem. Alan
