Could you try with org-mode master? Cannot reproduce here,

I can reproduce (Emacs-28, X11 session), but with a minor correction.

Refiling corrupts kill ring.

To repro:
this works in -Q with the stated org version
copy from anywhere
move to org entry
refile
yank

what occurs for me is that the first item in kill ring is not what was
copied. that is elsewhere, perhaps the next. the first item seems to
vary. a single word or a line, for example.

Alternatives:
- If some text is copied from Emacs then yank in Emacs inserts this text, but for other applications CLIPBOARD selection contains the refiled heading title. - If some text is copied from some other application then yank in Emacs causes "Kill ring is empty" user error while CLIPBOARD selection contains the refiled heading title.

P.S. Apologies to any unintended To: recipients. My client seems
unable to get headers right.

Just use "Compose" instead of "Reply" to start a new thread.

With some tuning you should be able to open
<mailto:[email protected]> link e.g. form an Org mode buffer to start a new thread (And from other Emacs modes as well). See
<https://orgmode.org/worg/org-faq.html#mailto-links>
Try to start another thread if you have questions.
