Hello, I have some problem about how I use org-capture and multiple computer synchronization. And I would like to have your opinion on this.
I use Org-mode on 2 computers. On each, I have an ~/Org folder containing my notes and lists of tasks spitted into thematic files. I also use org-capture to capture new tasks and notes into an inbox file stored into my ~/Org folder. I should regularly review this inbox to check, complete missing information and redistribute tasks and notes into other ~/Org files. To sync the ~/Org folder between the 2 computers, I use Git. It also help me versioning my ~/Org folder and keeping information about my modifications. If I have no problem to use Git when I review my inbox file, or do any manual modification into the ~/Org folder, it's a problem when I capture. As I generally capture while doing something else, I only capture a new note or task with no Git commit. And I quickly end with 2 different inbox, one per computer. And when I finally do a Git commit on both computer, when I do a sync I end with conflict in my inbox file. I was thinking of using org-capture hook to do auto commit. But that seems a bit too much and don't avoid the conflict when sync. Or maybe I should exclude my inbox file from Git ? In this case, no more conflict while sync but I still have 2 different Inbox and important tasks can be lost because of it. Do you have any idea ? How do you sync your Org-mode tasks and notes between multiple computers ? Best regards ------- Gendre Sébastien
