Org mode is trying to stick to GNU philosophy as much as possible.
However, we are NOT REQUIRED to, as Org mode is not an official GNU project.
(Also, I can tell you that many official GNU programs do not 100% follow
all the requirements anyway)

For WORG specifically, IMHO, the goal is being helpful to users. If that
can also be achieved while following GNU philosophy - excellent.
If cannot, or too many sacrifices are necessary, it is probably not
worth it.
