You can easily store contacts with custom properties in Org. I even
have a little perl script I use in Mutt to pull up email addresses.
Syncing with other apps is a completely different story. For that you
may want to look at Emacs BBDB and addons.
I've used this as a basic CRM in the past. I take timestamped notes
under a customer, and use appointments to remind me when to follow up.
