We don't know how popular is this feature discussion because the thread
name does not help.
Let me, at least, give it another try changing the subject.
As I was saying, I am a heavy user of emacs lisp defined variables in
org-capture-templates so whatever is needed to give space to introduce
them more gracefully, I support it.
It's good that we already can do it, but it would be nice to make it
easier, I like the kind of org-capture templates you were presenting,
and the patches you proposed looks like it is simple.
You are saying that you are not confortable to use org-capture templates
the way it is working, you propose a way to solve it, and that if it is
not solved, you will move to other template engines. I can see other
people deciding this in the past, now or in the future. So if we make it
easier to be used, more people will use it. Let's face it now, instead
of loosing another user of this functionality.
