Another idea is to leave nginx configuration as is, export "archive",
but move gsoc2012 to new "noexport" directory and exclude it from
build and publish steps.

I can see why you might want to have both an "archive" (or "obsolete")
directory with published .html and a "noexport" directory with nothing
published, but I think a single directory of unpublished files is
sufficient. Obsolete .org files should not be published at all IMHO.

I'll let Christian do what he thinks is best and just update the server
config according to your instructions.

I see your point. OTOH, the link from worg/index.html has so far
suggested that the policy is to publish. Let me think about it a bit as
I look at some more aging pages. There's no hurry, and no harm done if
org-annotation-helper.org lies around in archive/ unexported for a
while.

Bastien, since nobody shares my opinion that some historical pages should be exported, there is no point to keep

rewrite ^(/worg)(/org-contrib/org-annotation-helper\.)(html|org) $1/archive$2$3 permanent;

and the related comment in nginx.conf. They were added by

72c2ae02 2025-06-07 13:37:36 +0200 Bastien
nginx.conf: New Worg rewrite rule

but revert would not work because of additional (useful) php->html rewrite rule has been added to the block.

I do not know if it is reasonable to add "410 Gone" error for /archive/
<https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Reference/Status/410>
Setting it for specific pages perhaps will be excessive burden.
