Any text file is a valid Org syntax. There is no such thing as syntax error in Org markup :) What you see is an instance of hard-to-catch bugs with the parser. We know they happen, but reproducing is extremely hard, which is why we prompt for reporting, hoping that we can get something reproducible and fix things in this area. If you were to see the problem frequently, I would suggest activating additional logging facilities. But if you no longer see the problem, there is little we can do other than acknowledge that the bugs are still lurking in this area. So, thanks for reporting anyway.
