Did that. Now

[article

is inserted at the beginning of the exported PDF document.

I have been using the same setup for more than ten years, and do not recall making any changes recently.

This behavior, possibly a bug, started between March 12, 2026 and June 1, 2026.

I have following in latex headers in my org files:

#+LATEX_CLASS_OPTIONS:
[letterpaper.twoside=false,fontsize=11pt,parskip=half,parindent=0.5in,headings=small]{scrartcl}

Sometime after this past March 12th, a right hand square bracket is printed at
the beginning of every pdf document. I have found that upon export to the .tex
file a right hand square bracket is inserted, thus:

\documentclass[letterpaper.twoside=false,fontsize=11pt,parskip=half,parindent=0.5in,headings=small]{scrartcl}]{}
          ^

On March 12th and before the export to the .tex file was

\documentclass[letterpaper.twoside=false,fontsize=11pt,parskip=half,parindent=0.5in,headings=small]{scrartcl}{}

Until now I was looking at for errors in my init file and latex setup in my org
files. Finally realized that I should check the *Org LATEX Export* file. Of
course, that's not to say that my init file is perfect.
