I suppose it's time to actually put my setup up on worg. See
attached patch. It's basically what I sent in my previous
email but I found a minimal config file for public-inbox and I
improved my script to grab all open threads (should be a little
faster and now has a progress reporter).
I suppose I should get commit access to worg at some point...
I'm not particularly good at documentation or making the good
English so let me know what you think!
If you get around to trying it Leo, please do so from these
instructions and note any inconsistencies so we can improve
this!
Thanks for this! A little while ago I looked at cloning the
public-inbox, but then wasn't sure how to dump it into a Maildir
so I could access it via mu4e.
Ihor uses mu4e. Not sure if that's using maildir or not. I
specifically don't want maildir as gnus doesn't seem to handle
maildir very well once you get to 150K emails.
That being said, I'm pretty I do know the way. I've looked for
alternative to this specific approach but haven't found any. It
does seem strange and round about.
Running "lei q" lets us specify how we want the results of the
query. One option is to put the results in a "maildir" directory.
Step 1: follow my previous instructions until you've got lei setup
to do queries.
Step 2: one-time setup:
#+begin_src sh
time lei q f:"@" --output=maildir:/home/USERNAME/maildir
#+end_src
(I prefixed this command with "time" because I'd like to know how
long it takes. I imagine this will take a while!)
This adds this query to lei's query list (use "lei ls-search" to
see if it worked). USE ABSOLUTE PATH! The query I made there is
meant to just match every message. It matches every message that
contains a "@" in the from header.
Step 3: update maildir from time to time
#+begin_src sh
set -e # error on error
public-inbox-fetch --exit-code -C
~/.local/share/public-inbox/orgmode
public-inbox-index -C ~/.local/share/public-inbox/orgmode
lei up --all
#+end_src
I hope this works! Please let me know if it does!
Nevertheless, I'll try follow your instructions when I get a
chance, and let you know of any issues. Then perhaps I can see
if helps to get closer to syncing with a Maildir. Always good to
have options :)
Thanks!
