Thanks for the speedy response.

I do have a question: is this anywhere in the manual?  If not, it
might be worth adding, say:

--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
With an argument, this command unschedules the item.
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

to the entry on C-c C-s in section 10.5 of the org-manual and to C-c
C-d if the same applies to deadlines?
