Although the orgmode manual is written in texinfo rather than org, orgmode outline headlines will be converted to numbered sections when exporting to LaTeX, ascii, or html. For instance, if LaTeX is installed on your system, you can simply type C-c C-e d to export a file to pdf. Best, Matt
