It's odd. The value of org-file-apps-defaults-gnu is:
((remote . emacs) (system . mailcap) (t . mailcap))
And I checked my local mime file, which shows google-chrome is the default
app to open html files:
$ cat ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list
