See this post: http://lwn.net/Articles/501751/ People still continue to thank RMS for new Emacs releases. IIRC, it is good 5-6 years since RMS retired from daily Emacs work. There is a gap between what people hold to be true and what the reality is. Some perceptions are wrong and it is important that these be corrected. Jambunathan K.
