Off topic, but, interesting question anyway. You can compress pictures taken by your phone. A shrinking of 2 or 4, or more can be obtained with no visible difference. You can also collect a set of pictures in a single djvu album. The viewer (djview) is able to zoom very fast.
Unfortunately neither Djvu nor Jpeg2000 have replaced Jpeg.
