Still I can't see the "commandp" problem with the CVS version. If it only occurs on some distributions of modified Carbon Emacs, it is difficult for me to help directly, sorry. One thing I can think of is heap corruption caused by missing BLOCK_INPUTs. If -DSYNC_INPUT suppresses the error, it might be due to this.
