I'm not sure if it was there when the crash occurred. I've been working on new icons for Gnus' tool bars and during this, I often copied and removed icons ("etc" is a symlink to the directory containing the Gnus icons.) But even when removing used icons while running Emacs, Emacs shouldn't crash.
