I wasn't "arguing against" anything. I agreed with Stefan that
magic-mode-alist should be kept to a minimum, and with you that there
are Postscript files which cannot be detected just by extension.

If I had to argue, it would be in favor of using the more restrictive
regexp that can possibly work.

If people feel that they have been weighed wrongly, the way to resolve
this is not repeating arguments, but vote on the resolution.

I was not "repeating arguments", because I wasn't arguing.

Everything else seems like a waste of time.

Suddenly you seem very worried about wasted time.
