Sure, but I'm not sure it's very easy for Emacs to do (not that I know anything about w32 font selection :-). Even if it was easy, it may not be desirable -- for instance if a slightly inconsistent font was much more readable than a consistent font, it's probably better to just deal with it and use the more readable font (italics are hardly very common in Emacs anyway).
