To explain the seriousness:

I often perform "work" in locate buffers.  For instance, I often
"clean up" the buffer by manually marking and killing search results
that were irrelevant.  If I kill a line by mistake (which happens, I
am absent-minded), it is important to be able to get that line back by
undo.  Getting it back by a new search looses all my previous work.
Actually, to me `undo' is _more_ important in locate buffers than in
regular Dired buffers.

This also shows why the second bug is serious too: after the
overwrite, I can conduct the original search over again, but I loose
all my work in the process.
