Are you running 21.1 or 21.2? I recently sent Kai a set of three patches
that let me run, almost perfectly, RCP and EFS together under 21.2.
The changes should work for 21.1 as well, but I would like to see them
tested a little to be sure. I always get nervous at 'obviously correct'
fixes. :)

Someone else who is running a non-MULE XEmacs, I suspect. I don't have
MULE and hit that problem. One of the patches fixed it.

VC does not work here either. I know *why* but the correct fix will take
a little effort to make. I will try and get it done soon and submitted
to Kai.
Dired is trickier and my solution is a little ugly. If you would like to
try my hack, I can send it to you.
