The current version of rcp.el is not working on XEmacs 20.x or 21.1.x
owing to a problem in XEmacs. I raised a problem report a couple of
weeks ago. Rcp is meant to wait about 30s for a connection to be
established but a fault in the itimers means that the timeout is
rather less than a second. Connections sometimes work.
My XEmacs/rcp.el is working at the moment, but I'm using an older
version (1.130) which does not use the current timeout mechanisms.
I also have patched that with some of the changes since then.
There is another problem where efs grabs some low level file access
functions. The getaround that I use for that is to replace colons
with semicolons in the rcp file name variables.
