Could you try that within Emacs?  Ie, say start-process for some
buffer, then use process-send-string to send the right stuff?

Also see my response to your previous posting.  I now remember having
seen it, but I was so happy about the `XEmacs timeout bug workaround'
now working, that I completely missed the bad news... :-/
