I mean that I have a section at the very top of my page labelled '*
Schedule' which is *always* empty. It doesn't matter what I do wrt
appointments or tasks, it never gets filled in.

C-h v says:
planner-appt-task-appointments-section's value is "Schedule"
planner-appt-task-use-appointments-section-flag's value is nil
