It might be useful for you guys to explain why it annoyed you so much.
It'd help avoid those annoyances in Letters.

I have used Thunderbird for a long time because I refuse to be patronised by Mail.app, and there simply is no other reasonable alternative.

Thunderbird does a reasonable job, but it does annoy me.
I think the most annoying thing with TB is that it means well, but is always a bit rough around the edges.

A prime example of what can go wrong with the Thunderbird (or even Mozilla?) approach: In Thunderbird 2 you could setup the default view for all your mailboxes. Apparently, this was not completely obvious, did not work correctly or whatever. Anyway, they decided to have a new approach in Thunderbird 3, and every single mailbox now has it's own view associated with it. And of course the default view is immensely verbose (why the hell is there a "read" column with a star when read messages are also bolded? And I have no idea what the "Thread" column is for in an unthreaded view) Imagine the fun you have with your account with several mailboxes that becomes corrupted at some point, Thunderbird rebuilds the indexes and puts you back in the default view.

And I just wish Thunderbird didn't have so many knobs and buttons to change its behavior. For a person like me, just knowing that they're there and I can change them, means that I will.

Jeroen.
