What Would Merlin Do?
I'm talking about Merlin Mann. Like him, hate him or tolerate him he is a known
entity in the email management space. Inbox zero has become part of common
vernacular and the title of an upcoming book. I personally follow Merlin's
advice, which in a nutshell is "don't be so damn precious about your email". I
hit inbox zero multiple times week, often multiple times a day. I want
Letters.app to help me achieve inbox zero with less work, more often.
With that preamble, I propose the following. If Brent is the Chairman, John the
President and Gus the Tech lead, I nominate Merlin as our Shaman.
With a figurehead in place, our leaders will have someone to turn to for
mediation and advice. I envision Gruber throwing on a rucksack and hiking up
the mountain to gain wisdom at the feet of the benevolent shaman. Hell, with a
name like Merlin there's really no better choice. We'll get him a hat.
The rest of us can ask WWMD when faced with design decisions.
* How often should it check for new messages? WWMD?
* Should it support tagging? WWMD?
* Will it is ship with markdown support? WWMD?
* Should it automatically filter "bacn"? WWMD?
