I was never able to wrap my head around TextMate because so much of its functionality is in Bundles, but as I remember, they were all segregated off in a huge Bundles menu, making the UI difficult to discover.
Agreed. I never really got into it. I use BBEdit all the time and a spend a fair amount of time at the command line. I much prefer BBEdit.
That being said, extending and customizing TextMate is much easier than BBEdit. While BBEdit is incredibly scriptable via Applescript, and offers a nice filter option with the use of Unix filters, TextMate exposes more of the internals via its bundle interface. It's also much more customizable on a per-language basis than BBEdit is.
