That doesn't mean we need to make Letters support POP.

I'm not among them. We only permit use of POP3 here for people who have to
use clients that don't support IMAP. We have two such people: one is blind,
and has an braille computer that doesn't have an IMAP client. The other is
using a marketing mail tool that doesn't support IMAP (but is otherwise
quite good).
