>tell me if I'm wrong, but isn't the log file from below (made by >Interarchy) telling us that this SMTP server uses PLAIN LOGIN and Baton >Mail is giving it CRAM-MD5? If not, what else could cause this SMTP Auth >failure?
Yes and No. Yes, Baton Mail is attempting CRAM-MD5 despite the fact that the EHLO banner doesn't list it as an available type. This is a known problem, and was really just a not yet implimented feature (that is, to read the banner and only try supported types). However, the log also shows that it successfully recovered from the CRAM-MD5 refusal and then stepped down the list and tried the LOGIN method. Your failure is occuring during the LOGIN attempt, and my guess would be, your username or password is typed incorrectly. However if you are sure your username and password are correct (run a log inside Baton Mail to see the plain text version of your password that Baton Mail is using), then it is possible that the server side is not properly recovering from the bad CRAM-MD5 attempt, and is thus rejecting the connecting entirely. Because this is a potential problem to some users, I have a build of Baton Mail that will not attempt CRAM-MD5 at all. If you need it, or want to give it a try, let me know I'll send it to you. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
