Hi, all--
I just wanted to report back to all of you that
the source of my Emailer problem (which many here
helped with a few weeks ago) turns out to have been--
ta-da!--a corrupted font.

After all of the usual troubleshooting didn't
work, several wise heads here suggested a clean re-install
of the System or even reformatting the hard drive.
As it turns out, this would have solved the problem.

Instead, though, I tried disabling Extensions
a few at a time to see if I could find the culprit. No dice.
Then I read (in "Sad Macs" I think) that you can drag the
Fonts folder out of the System folder, and that if the problem
goes away you've got a corrupted font. Voila! That was it.
It was fairly easy to put fresh font copies back in,
then I ran the "Font Manager" app that goes with OS8.6.
Sure enough, it fixed some problems, specifically with
Emailer's FOND resource (??). I'm not sure what it all
means but now everything is working great.

Thanks again for all of your help. I sure have
learned some nifty things by hanging out here.

Best wishes,
Anna
