I assume you have set your TCP/IP control panel to use the Ethernet PC 
card? And have set it with the correct IP settings (probably DHCP if you 
are using a LinkSys box with default config).

Seeing the other computers on the network is an AppleTalk thing, which is 
unrelated to the functioning of TCP/IP. And in fact, you can have the two 
pointing to two different network ports (I do that all the time... I 
leave my TCP/IP on Ethernet, and repoint my AppleTalk to the printer port 
for localtalk printer access).
