FWIW I was using FreePPP 2.6.2 on 7.5.5. and a mere change of the access phone number makes it now impossible to get an IP address in return.
With PPP I got through with my IP address in TCP/IP in manual. Actually I much prefer the FreePPP design and etc. but it seems to be impossible, no matter what I do, provided I use that particular new phone number. I haven't a clue why, but its saved me from having to drag myself and my computer over to a hazzle with an Apple sales techie.
