Now I know what to call those little rectangles before each line :-)

This question and answer process has led me to an easy solution to the
problem. Those characters don't bother me if I'm just reading or
responding to a message, but I edit a newsletter and copy and paste from
emails into Word, requiring me to delete each one at a time. So now I
tried forwarding one of those messages to myself, and lo and behold, it
came back clean!

Thanks everyone.
Ellen

BTW, I'm using EMailer 2.0.3
