Wow! Thanks for the history! I'm trying the remember when I joined the EMailer-Talk list, it's been at least 4 years.. Maybe longer. I've been using Emailer since Guy Kawasaki visited our Mac User Group touting verison 1.0. Now I'm the president of that MUG, and the cycle continues. I probably joined Emailer-Talk when I was having an issue of some sort.
After I moved to OSX, I tried all the X email programs I could find. None were serious competition for Emailer, at least not for a heavy email user like myself. Already, I've got a COUNT of 51 members of Emailer-Talk who have voted! So far. :-) IF YOU HAVENT'T ALREADY PLEASE REPLY & BE COUNTED! (Especially you lurkers, who are quiet & don't post messages) ;-) (don't "reply all", just reply TO [EMAIL PROTECTED] !) > mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (you can highlight, then "drag & drop" the email address into the Address area) We would like to get a count of how many people are on this Emailer-Talk list. Please send one email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Blank is ok, but I'll read any messages. I'll total up how many responses we get and report back. I absolutely promise not to reveal your email address to anyone, and I will report back to the group the total number of Emailer-Talk members (hopefully everybody will respond). Please DO take just a sec to "reply" to this email & be counted. Thanks for your time. Dave Nathanson Mac Medix AKA [EMAIL PROTECTED] On 1/27/03 9:28 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] impressed us with:> >>I don't think anyone ever had control of the list server. In fact, some >>years ago a second Emailer list was started by someone who produced >>shareware in order to gain control of the group. > >That's not how I remember it. > >Once upon a time ... there really was someone in control of the list >server -- the "list mom". He was a good list mom. Although he >possessed the power to moderate the list (i.e. to block messages which >he felt were off-topic or otherwise inappropriate), he hardly, if ever, >used this power. All were happy. > >Then came the fateful day when the list mom announced he would be going >on vacation. During his absence, he temporarily passed his power on to >a new list mom. Unfortunately, it soon became clear that the new list >mom was evil. She abused her moderating powers and caused great >suffering and misery. > > From this suffering arose a champion who created a new list. The new >list was beyond the control of the evil list mom, and it seemed that >the death of the old beloved list ... and the evil list mom ... was near. > >But then the old list mom returned from vacation. He vanquished the >evil list mom, and restore peace to the old list. The rival list faded >into obscurity and vanished. All were happy again. > >But as time passed, the old list mom himself faded into obscurity and >vanished. No one knows where he went or when he disappeared. He has >been gone so long, that some have even forgotten him ... and his evil >nemesis. > >But if you ever need to be reminded that the good list mom existed, >look at this very list. Would anyone besides our fabled list mom have >allowed this list to stay up and running long after he had gone? With >no subscription fees? And no advertisements? > >(And if you need to be reminded that the evil list mom existed, just >try posting anything to the list with "OT: " at the start of your >subject header. Although the evil list mom is gone, her undying curse >on this list survives to this very day.) > >:) :) :) ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
