Charlie: No, not your lack of knowledge, rather lack of software updates. While I can't remember whether is is the carbon or coccoa enviroment that runs pre-OS X software under Classic, applications that were not updated to play nice (e.g. Claris Em@iler) don't respond to the scroll wheel.
