I know what you mean. I've been fielding aproximately 70-100 pieces of 
spam a day and it seems to be going up. I'm grateful my ISP has a 
fantastic spam filter built in. The filter checks for wording, flase 
reverse DNS lookups and a whole bunch of other things. Basicly I can wipe 
out almost 98% of the spam (even from places I've never heard from 
before) and I can check the messages in "Web Mail" via Netscape or MIE. I 
then have the option to let through those messages I want with a couple 
of mouse clicks and block almost all the others.  With two more mouse 
clicks I then delete all of the captured spam.

You might check to see if your ISP offers something similar. Mine charges 
$2.00 extra for the service, but it's well worth it.
