Just followed up the helpful advice of Dave and others and installed SpamSieve 2.0.1 which is now in training.
I was at first puzzled that SpamSieve's Help didnt respond, whereas Emailer's Help still works fine. Then realised that this was because latter was running under Classic mode which does not require a live internet connection, whereas OSX (10.2.7) operation appears to demand this. At least I have not discovered a way of turning off this unreasonable demand - I have a dialup connection via AirPort and am not always within range. There seems no reason why I should not be allowed to access Help files already on my hard disk even if they are not the latest version. Any suggestions on how to adjust this much appreciated.
