I have successfully hacked Emailer to change the font (mine is set to Lucida Grande Bold for that "OS X" look), but unfortunately, not the SIZE of the font. My father has the same issue as you, and I have been unable to help him. I do not believe there is a way to make the font any larger than it is normally.
