As has been said several times, it is most likely just AOL being AOL. 
Probably tinkering with mail server software in an effort to "serve you 
better." In doing so, they have evidently caused a problem with the 
"conduit" used by Emailer to access the servers. It doesn't seem to cause 
any real problem, just the annoying error messages. If it gets fixed, I 
suspect it will be by accident.
