As of a couple of hours ago, I am now using an ADSL connection with a new ISP and am having to resort to sending and getting mail directly from my old ISP's website at the moment!
I could easily get and receive mail from my old address using the old account (Pathcom) settings but couldn't get or receive mail if I use the new account (Magma) settings. The info they have given me is: user id: tanbaker Incoming Mail (POP3): mail.magma.ca Outgoing Mail (SMTP): mail.magma.ca These did not work so I tried what worked for my pathcom dial-up: Incoming Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Outgoing Mail: smtp.mail.pathcom.com These did not work either. Of course, tech support couldn't help. But he did say that the server needed a user name to authenticate and I probably wasn't giving it a usable user id. So I downloaded Baton Mail (thanks Chris!) and followed the instructions to the best of my ability: - filled in the Settings window with smtp server name, my user name and password and clicked the SMTP button. - then I added the host files to the Select Host files in the TCP/IP window - then I changed the SMTP entry in my Magma account window to "localhost" (no quotes) Using the magma account settings the mail was sent but will not get. If I quit Baton, in order to use my Pathcom account with the old settings, I seem to be able to get but not send. > Sending 1 of 1 > Sending message Not Receiving Mail with New ISP > ** 550 5.7.1 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>...
