Much favoured by oil companies and war reporters. However I have learned to keep my sat antenna wrapped up in dirty washing to avoid having it confiscated at customs in the more paranoid countries. Mind you some regard journalists as even worse than spies. In others email access can be subject to control and censorship. It is almost more tiresome when one is not sure if an email has gone through. Speeds (which are about to improve) are around double dialup usually, so just about OK for sending pix, though a batch of images would get expensive. Fine if a newspaper or oil company is paying. The simplicity of Emailer makes it a good combination in a zone where communications are otherwise precarious. But, as you say, not economic for everyday use.
