Karl Winkelman pointed out the source of a problem
in disposing of old messages..... he had a Preference
File installed in the Emailer Folder AND one in the
System Folder.

(please stay with me here)

In an earlier post, Chris had tried to put to rest
the confusion about the installation of Emailer
on a partition running OS X..., running Emailer
under Classic, etc.

As I remember, Chris said that so long as Emailer
was installed *somewhere* on a hard disk.... even on
another partition...... when running OS X, Emailer
will/can be sought out. That is, one doesn't need
to do a separate installation of Emailer onto the
partition running OS X.

.... Well... That's what I thought, but now it
doesn't seem to be the case. "Why?" Because the
Emailer that shows up in Classic.... (when running
OS X, Emailer is found in a folder entitled
OS 9 applications) .... the messages are not those
that have accumulated in the Emailer which I have
on a partition runnning OS 9.

Could someone please tell me why this is so...
or tell me if it would be just fine to dump the
Emailer that shows up in OS X. (but has messages
that are dated no later that about May 15.)

I realize this isn't well-stated, but it's the
best I can do for now.

Thanks for reading this; perhaps one of you will
understand the confusion I have.
