I haven't been taking part in these discussions because at the moment
my Emailer is on hold in an External HD while I use my granddaughters
G4 and she would rather have Mail. So Mail has been fine so far but I
do miss my Emailer and hope, as soon as I can get funding, I can get
my
own G5, Tiger, et al and then get back to Emailer.
If Classic is available, why not set up [EMAIL PROTECTED] for your use and let
her
continue with Mail? I have Mail (I think) and Thunderbird available on
this G4, but use [EMAIL PROTECTED] by choice.
Hi Bill-
Well she doesn't want me messing with things.
Mail isn't too bad but I really prefer Emailer except I wish someone
could
fix the font problem. It is too small for my aging eyes. I also
think the
Search routine is slow compared to Mail.
Can't comment on Search, but for aging eyes (I'll be 72 in November)
you
can choose from the fonts available up to 14 point. I just checked
under
[EMAIL PROTECTED] help and was referred to Setup->Preferences->Font and Color.
In
the resulting window under "Message Text" there are pull-down menus for
Font and Size. (The font names appear in Geneva, but I see names for
OS 9
and X fonts there and they =work=!) Of course I'm looking at a 17" NEC
flat-screen CRT monitor, which is nice and sharp..
That only changes the message font Bill. I'm talking about the main
window that shows the Income Mail, Folders etc.
.
Is it nostalgia or is there really that big a difference between
Emailer and
others like Mail, Entourage, etc.?
There's a BIG difference to me. All the others I've tried fill up the
screen with a buncha stuff I don't want to see, and -- to me -- aren't
nearly as easy to use as [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm not sure I =ever= really figured
out how to compose several messages in Mail or Thunderbird to be sent
all
at one time rather than immediately after completion. That should be
chrystal clear, IMHO. (Of course I got started using CompuServe --
metered and charged by the minutes used -- and Freddie for
reading/responding to batched posts, so I still prefer to compose
offline
and then upload batches...)
I compose and Save as Draft with Mail'
doug
