It does if you ask nicely. Open the Emailer Cleanup's window and click the + button to add a new file type. This will open a window saying 'Enter a file extension'. Type in .gif and hit the OK button. Ensure that .gif is ticked under 'Clean these types' and your .gifs will be trashed.
